Simple activation process
- Single phone call for activating specialty services
- Case registration by operator
- Rapid engagement from UAB specialist; callbacks typically happen within 5-15 minutes, depending on the service
Patient-centered consults
- Hands-free cart allows the bedside care team to focus more on the patient
- UAB provider assesses patient using EHR, imaging, video engagement, and/or bedside provider discussion, as appropriate
Timely treatment decisions
- Immediate access to data and/or imaging for independent review
- Responsive decision-making in support of time-bound care
- Availability of provider or RN assistance to administer recommended treatment
- Patient transfer support, as needed
Closing the consult
- Clear communication of care plan recommendation to local team – and to the patient, as appropriate
- Timely documentation that flows into the EHR
- Availability for ongoing rounds (in some specialties)
- Case feedback
